New 3-D Cookie Course!

As many of you know, 3-D cookies are kind of my thing, so - perhaps needless to say - I was super excited when I was invited by eduK, Brazil’s largest e-learning site, to teach a three-day course all about them. I received the invitation late last year, and have been designing and decorating the projects for this course for the better part of the last two months! I’m pleased to announce that they are nearly done, and I am just four days away from boarding a plane to Brazil where I will videotape the course.

The course will be live-streamed from 2 pm to 5 pm (São Paulo, Brazil time), July 27 - 29, for FREE; it will be re-run once again, for free, one hour after the first live-streaming is over. After both free viewing periods have concluded, the course will only be available for purchase. (Though if you sign-up for the paid course before the live-streaming is over, you can get it at a steep discount.)

The course will be taught in English and translated simultaneously into both Portuguese and Spanish, which means that almost anyone anywhere should be able to enjoy it.

During these three days, I will demonstrate six new 3-D cookie projects (see my preview video below), all tied together with the common thread of a wedding theme. I’ll also cover close to 20 decorating and assembly techniques!

To Purchase:

NOTE: The free live-streaming period is now over, but the course can be purchased at any time for viewing at your leisure!

If you speak Portuguese, hang tight; that link is coming soon!

If you speak English, click here. (Note: The class price is listed in pesos, not USD.)

If you speak Spanish, click here.

Important Notes:

  • The teaser video shows glimpses of only three of the projects in this course - that’s why they call it a teaser! ;) So there will be an element of surprise!
  • eduK is solely responsible for setting course prices and handling registration, so please contact them directly (see emails below) if you have questions about their registration page and/or class terms and conditions.
  • Because eduK does not allow the mention of brands in their courses due to advertising broadcast restrictions, I have posted a page with links to my critical sources on this site, here and in the link below. However, some additional recipes and notes will only be available through eduK to those who purchase the course.

Hi Julia, tried to sign up for the free streaming of your classes, but I cannot seem to do it,.  Am I doing something wrong, it is also asking me to pay?

HELP

By Leslie on July 20, 2015

Hi, Alessandra, You must contact the eduK support people if you are having trouble registering, as I know nothing about the registration site. (They’ll also need to know more specifically what trouble you are having in order to troubleshoot.) There should be some support/contact information at the bottom of their site. Hope this helps! And I hope to “see” you there.

Patti, the links to sign up are posted directly above under “To Sign Up”. Just click on any of the links (Portuguese or Spanish) and most browsers will translate the site if needed. Let me know if you need additional help, though I would suggest contacting eduK if you do, as I do not have any control over the registration site and will be traveling for the next two days.

Leslie - I only speak English and that is the language that the course will be given in; the translations will only be provided to those who speak Spanish or Portuguese. As noted above, if you sign up under either of the above links, you’ll hear the course in English (you’ll just also get some subtitling and optional translation). Excerpt from above: If you speak English or any other language, click on either of the above pages and translate the site into your language to sign up. (Most browsers should automatically present you with a translate option for the site.)

Alessandra - Just a clarification, if you tried signing up for the free live-streaming on the Spanish site, I think it is just offering you a special discount on the paid course. If you sign-up to live-stream before a certain date, you will get a discount on the main course as well. But you shouldn’t have to pay for that course if you don’t want to. To register for free, all you need to do is click on the green button that says “RESERVAR TU LUGAR GRATIS” (REGISTER FOR FREE) and you will be signed up. If you are having other difficulties, then please contact either of these support sites for further assistance (I have also added this information to the main post):

Portuguese: http://centraldeatendimento.eduk.com.br
Spanish: http://www.eduk.com.mx/contacto

Thanks - hope to “see” you there!

Leslie - another important clarification: To listen to the course in English, you must watch the live broadcasts; it is unlikely that the paid course will remain in English.

Hi,

the 3D cookie class sounds great and just what I need for a creativity boost!  I speak English and like the posts below, stuck as to where to regiester for this course?  I notice that advice has been given to watch the live broadcasts, again how and where?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

By Shazia Ajaib on July 23, 2015

Hi, Shazia, As noted in the post, if you speak English, you must sign up on either the Portuguese or Spanish site (as they do not have an English version of the site), but most browsers will do an automatic translation for you - “If you speak English or any other language, click on either of the above pages and translate the site into your language to sign up. Most browsers should automatically present you with a translate option for the site.”

So for instance, if you click on the link above for the Spanish page (http://www.eduk.com.mx/cursos/119-galletas-decoradas-3d-con-julia-usher?c=julia.usher), look for the green box that says “RESERVAR TU LUGAR GRATIS” (REGISTER FOR FREE); enter your email/name/phone number in the spots directly above the green box; click on the green box: and you will be signed up. If you are having other difficulties, then please contact either of these support sites for further assistance (I have also added this information to the main post):

Portuguese: http://centraldeatendimento.eduk.com.br
Spanish: http://www.eduk.com.mx/contacto

Thanks. Hope to “see” you at the course.

Hi Julia!!
I`m loving your work, I`ve seen your class today and of course I’ll see tomorrow as well, congratulations!!

I`ve seen here in your blog that you use sugar veil, can I use royal icing to do the same work? does it goes into the oven as well?

thank you!
kisses

By Júlia Mano on July 27, 2015

Hi, Julia! Thanks so much for watching my first day of classes and for joining me tomorrow as well. I will be working with SugarVeil in tomorrow’s class, and I may answer many of your questions then. But, the quick answer is that SugarVeil behaves similarly to royal icing when piped, but it can also be set up to a bendable/moldable consistency that allows it to be shaped in ways that royal icing cannot. I think you’ll see this all clearly in tomorrow’s class. “See” you then! :)
